Commercial tries to sweeten opinion of high fructose corn syrup

I can't sit down in front of the television for a little R&R without seeing that awful commercial about high fructose corn syrup. So much for relaxation! How can you expect me to be CALM when out-and-out lies are being systematically fed to the unsuspecting and uneducated?

It claims that high fructose corn syrup is "fine in moderation." Well, so is dirt, but that doesn't make it good for you. And good luck with eating it in moderation. High fructose corn syrup is a major ingredient in a dizzying array of America's foods. There's loads of it in nearly everything kids (and many adults) eat and drink - soda, "fruit" drinks, cookies, gum, jelly, baked goods…. you name it.

Of course, the commercial is put out by the Corn Refiners Association - the very organization that's losing money every time another American wakes up to the fact that this stuff may as well come with a poison label.

The new TV commercials are "designed to correct the record." The "record" that I suppose the CRA is looking to correct are the multiple scientific studies that have linked America's obesity epidemic in adults and children with the increased consumption of high fructose corn syrup. I guess the CRA doesn't want the facts to get in the way of their sweet story.

But that shouldn't stop YOU from knowing the facts. Click here to read my full article on this topic, and then take a look at the video clip.
